- The Hours -
What if I am running late?
by fergus mellon

None of us is perfect and we live in an imperfect world and there will be times when getting into the office on time is just not going to happen.  There may be maintenance that crops up with regard to your heating system (a famous reason why folks claim they are running late!) but there could also be issues with transit (snow on the lines, strikes if you live in Europe, and accidents, etc.) or you may have had a personal issue come up that just slows you down.

If you are running late just send an email or call your manager and let him or her know.  It is a sign of respect that you are calling them and assuming that this is a rare occasion then your manager will be fine.
Do not though make a habit of running late, even after that "legendary" Thursday night with your friends.  Do your best to crawl out of bed and get into the office on time.  You will survive despite the killer hangover, I promise!
